Current Practice
I began my private practice in 2010 out of a desire to help walk with people in times of need. I have experienced suffering and know the importance of having people to point us to in the right direction and give us encouragement along the way. When I have met with a counselor, I found it helped me find hope in times of deep pain from loss, helped me cope with life during extreme stress, and helped me establish healthier relationships with the people who are most important to me. I want my professional practice to do the same for others. I focus on learning my clients’ unique personalities, natural abilities, and past journeys in order to find the strategies that will be most effective for managing their current struggle. I help women and couples find out what is holding them back from joy and healthy choices, and how to overcome the obstacles that are keeping them from change and fulfillment.
Training
I attended Denver Seminary’s accredited counseling program to obtain my Masters in Counseling and graduated in 2006. In Denver, I was able to earn my license while gaining experience in working with depression and anxiety, marriage counseling, adolescent mental health, and eating disorders. My background volunteering as a leader and wilderness guide with Young Life has also contributed to my value of relationships and “earning the right to be heard.”
Background
I am a native Texan, originally from Houston. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, and then explored the country, living in North Carolina, New York, and Colorado. I met my husband while living in Denver, where we married. After having our first child, we decided we were in need of a warmer climate, and returned to Austin. My husband and I currently have two children and enjoy life with our family, neighborhood, and church community.
