From Hannah:
You and your story matter! So often we believe this about other people, yet to grasp this about ourselves is difficult, or seems impossible. I work with clients to begin to understand their intrinsic value, while working to develop healthier relationships, patterns, healing from the past, and to dream about the future.
Current practice:
I believe that so often transition and relationships can be some of the most challenging and growing times of our lives, so I feel honored to walk alongside people as they navigate these life events. Most often I work with young adults in break- up recovery, anxiety, family of origin issues, identity struggles, and indecision. I also utilize EMDR (Eye movement desensitization reprocessing) for those interested, especially clients who are healing from past trauma. I also work with couples to seek a healthier, more fulfilling relationship and in turn, life as a whole I can offer the program Prepare & Enrich for those seeking evidence-based premarital counseling. I enjoy integrating discussions of faith into the practice of psychology when desired.
Training:
I attended Dallas Theological Seminary and graduated with a Masters of Arts in Counseling in 2019. While studying, I worked at a private practice working with a wide range of clients on relationship issues, healing from family patterns, and doing EMDR. I also worked at an outpatient recovery center with clients while they worked through eating disorders, addictions, and severe trauma. I was trained in EMDR in 2019 and really believe in the effectiveness of this treatment.
Background:
I grew up in The Woodlands, Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from the University of Texas. I have experience working at a summer camp for junior high students and as a wilderness guide for high school students at Young Life’s Wilderness Ranch. After college, I moved to China to teach English. Through these rich experiences learned that I really enjoyed walking alongside people as they processed wounds and broken relationships, and in turn this led me to begin a career in counseling.
I focus my counseling on work with married couples, pre-marital and pre-engagement counseling, anxiety, transitions, family concerns, young adult challenges, and relationship concerns.
My husband and I live in East Dallas and have really loved living in and building relationships in this area.
