From Michaela:
I consider it a privilege to get the chance to walk with each client on their own personal journey towards healing. I have experienced tremendous growth and healing through counseling and my hope is to bring a collaborative, transformative, and safe place for each client.
Current Practice:
My goal is that clients would feel heard and understood in the middle of deep pain, regret, and trauma. As a wife and a parent, I see my need for wholeness in order to fully love the people who are most important to me. With influences of family systems, and cognitive behavioral therapy, I intend to empower and enlighten clients to continue taking steps towards wholeness. I focus on work with postpartum mothers, adolescents, young adults experiencing new transitions, anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, spiritual issues, and grief.
Training:
I am in my third year of my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Houston Christian University. Prior to pursuing a career in counseling, I have been involved in over ten years of ministry experience with adolescents, young adults, and teen mothers. It was through these experiences that I have learned the great impact of compassion and curiosity in a therapeutic relationship.
Background:
I am an Austin native, and obtained my undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University with a major in Public Health and a minor in Sociology. I met my husband at Texas A&M and we have two wonderful children. We have been involved with Young Life since college and my husband is on staff with Young Life today in central Austin. We love spending time together as a family outside, reading good books, and dance parties in the kitchen.
