Heejei Wang, MA, Graduate Intern

From Heejei:

Losing my mom to cancer at 14 deeply shaped me and sparked a desire to walk alongside others during life’s heavy, confusing, or overwhelming seasons. I don’t aim to simply “fix” problems. Instead, I focus on listening, understanding your story, and helping you move toward hope, healing, and a renewed sense of joy. I’m also deeply passionate about families. I believe they are one of God’s greatest gifts. I love helping couples grow in selfless love and guiding parents and children toward stronger, more meaningful relationships. My hope is to support families in becoming places of love, stability, and grace.

Training:

I am a counseling intern pursuing an M.Ed. in Counseling & Development: Marriage, Couple & Family Counseling at Lamar University. Previously, I have served as an ASK core leader for seven years, supporting children. I have also had the privilege of supporting my husband as he has served in various ministry roles over the years, including campus ministry and pastoring a church. Additionally, I hold a Master of Arts in Religion from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. These combined experiences have shaped my approach to counseling, allowing me to integrate a biblical worldview with sound psychological principles as I care for individuals, couples, and families.

Background:

I was born in South Korea and grew up between North Carolina and Southern California, later returning to Korea for middle school. In 2007, I moved to Boston for graduate school, where I met Daniel, and we moved to Austin in 2011. We have two wonderful children and are grateful daily for God’s blessing of family. We love cheering them on in sports, enjoying music, board games, good food, and meaningful conversations with friends.
