Peyton Mizell, MA, LPC-A

Peyton is supervised by Becca Coley, MA, LPC-S

From Peyton:

As a counselor, it is my intention to honor the courage it takes to seek support in the midst of suffering and uncertainty. My hope is that you feel understood, valued, and accepted throughout the counseling process.

Current Practice:

The therapeutic relationship is a foundation for healing, and I am dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment where clients can bring their full selves and experience meaningful growth. I believe each person is the expert on their own lived experience, and I’m honored to come alongside them through the counseling process. My practice centers on cultivating awareness and insight to support lasting change and help clients live more fully in alignment with what truly matters to them. I take a collaborative, individualized, and holistic approach to counseling, integrating elements of Person-Centered Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am currently accepting adult and adolescent clients for individual therapy.

Training:

I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University. During my clinical training, I worked with a diverse range of clients navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity development, boundary issues, chronic illness, and relationship concerns. In addition to my graduate studies, I have completed specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based approach effective in treating trauma and other distressing life experiences.

Background:

I am originally from a small town in East Texas, but I have also spent time living in Waco, Dallas, Austin, Winston Salem, NC and Washington, D.C. After graduating from Baylor University with my Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, I initially began working in the legal field. Over time, I recognized that the work I found most fulfilling was connecting with and supporting others more directly, which led me to pursue a career change into counseling. It has been deeply meaningful to walk alongside others in their healing process and witness their growth.

After spending a few years in North Carolina, my husband and I were excited to move back to our home state. When I’m not in the office, I love spending time outdoors, enjoying a good cup of coffee, and sharing a meal with friends and family.
